Marlborough Mid-Week : May 13th 2015
20 MARLBOROUGH MIDWEEK, MAY 13, 2015 Bill Green car reviews, brought to you by HOLDEN CAPTIVA 7 LTZ………….. quality SUV H olden’s Captiva 7 LTZ model sees two power options; diesel or petrol and an auto six speed gearbox with active select (Holden speak for a manual mode). The test AWD (all wheel drive) 7 seat model came with 2.2 litre turbo diesel that makes 135kW of power and 400NM of torque delivering fuel burn of 8.1l/100km. Holden also have a 3.0 litre V6 petrol available; this produces 190kW of power and 288Nm of torque and burns at a rate of 10.1l/100km, not too bad at all when considering the size of vehicle. The Whangamoa’s provided no problem even well laden up, but I feel to get the best from the diesel engine using the manual side of the gearbox especially when engaged in hill work is best. Suspension isn’t too firm, and body roll well controlled, both the petrol and diesel models come on 19inch alloys. The Captiva 7 in diesel form will tow up to 1700kg braked, the petrol version up to 2000kg braked, both cope with up to 750kg unbraked. ‘The Whangamoa’s provided no problem even well laden up’ W e loaded our big tent, other camping bits and really there was plenty of room with the 2015 HOLDEN CAPTIVA LT-Z 3 LITRE PETROL AUTO (ex demo 1,000 km’s) • ELECTRONIC STABLITY CONTROL • ACTIVE ALL WHEEL DRIVE • 7 INCH TOUCH SCREEN • INTERGRATED SAT NAV • REAR VIEW CAMERA • BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY • LEATHER WITH HEATED SEATS • 5 STAR ANCAP SAFETY RATING Retail Price $55,490 driveaway SPECIAL PRICE $44,990! There was even enough space to get my road bike in without having to take more than the front wheel off, bonus. Without the rear seats lowered Captiva 7 will take up to 465 litres of cargo, not a bad amount I would suggest, the rears et of seats are very easy to put into use just a pull of the tag and up they go. The front is well equipped with a fully adjustable steering wheel, Bluetooth and music streaming, a good stereo with a single CD slot, an auxiliary point as well as a USB connection, trip computer and dual zone climate control. The satellite navigation doesn’t disappoint with its ease of use, all seen via the 7 inch colour touch screen. LTZ has leather clad seats, all have good shape, while vision all round was generally good. The rear view camera along with the rear park assist sensors is spot on; add to this front parking sensors. S afety is well sorted with six airbags and a host of passive features including traction control, ESC, ABS, EBD, BA, hill descent control, hill start assist and Active Rollover Protection. The driving position is good because it has that ‘command’ position meaning plenty of easy forward and side vision, rear side vision isn’t great BUT the reversing camera is an excellent aid here. There’s plenty to like about the LTZ Captiva 7 including auto lights and rain sensing wipers. The price not out of the way for a good sized SUV capable of carrying 7 in relative comfort is from $54,490 plus on road costs. 6673703AA Save $10,500!
